G. UtleyLorna G. Utley is currently President, GM Foundation and Director, Diversity Initiatives and Philanthropy. She is responsible for leading Corporate efforts related to diversity strategies and philanthropy initiatives for General Motors Corporation. This includes facilitating the efforts of Marketing, Communications, Purchasing and Personnel practices to ensure that the Corporation is developing strategies and programs to deal with these two areas. Ms. Utley joined General Motors in 1978 and has held numerous management positions. Her previous assignment was Personnel Director, GM Powertrain-Livonia Engine Plant, which builds the nationally recognized NorthStar engine for all Cadillac vehicles. Prior to that, she was Personnel Director, GMC Truck Division. During her tenure at GMC Truck in 1992, Ms. Utley was one of the first to begin implementation of the GM Diversity Strategy at a divisional level. Ms. Utley has also held positions covering human resources, product engineering administration, industrial engineering, salaried and executive compensation at both Rochester Products Division and the Personnel Administration and Development Staff. Ms. Utley earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University in business, graduating Phi Beta Kappa and a Master of Science in Industrial Relations also from Purdue University’s Krannert Business School. Both degrees were awarded with highest distinction. Ms. Utley currently is a member of the Junior League of Detroit; Secretary of the Music Hall Board of Trustees, Chair-Elect of Inforum of Detroit, member of the Alternatives for Girls Women’s Advisory Group, member of University of Michigan-Dearborn Dean’s Advisory Council, and board member of Goodwill Industries of Metropolitan Detroit and past Chair. She and her husband reside in Grosse Pointe, Michigan with their two sons. Her leisure activities include golf, antique dolls and roller blading. |
